Metro
responded by signing the budding auteur to a ten hi-def picture
deal and DCypher set to work on his next feature Wonderland,
which was featured in this month's AVN magazine as an Editor's
Choice with AAAA 1/2 rating, and six pre-noms, including Best
Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Feature - Video. The movie,
which is slated for release in May 2006, is rapidly
gaining media attention, both online and in print, propelling
pre-sale orders to record heights for the company.
Despite being over a month away from release Wonderland has
already garnered the distinction of its own sub-genre within
the feature category by one critic, Lit Porn, so-called for
all of the literary references seamlessly implemented into
the plot structure. It's a badge the director wears with pride.
"I'm interested in well crafted story lines that engage
the viewer," explains DCypher. "Too many people
that make features try to cut out all of the interesting dialogue
and cerebral qualities of their show, either because they
are afraid to push their performers or because they don't
understand how it operates inside a narrative. My goal is
to find the perfect synergy between the two, between the intellect
and the heart, without compromising the intensity of the sex.
That's the formula."
It would seem that the formula is working out well for the
fastest rising feature in porn history and that Metro's investment
is paying off, big time.
This week the XRCO released their nominations for 2006, and
once again Prisoner made the cut, against films and productions
that cost literally ten times that amount to create, were
fueled by extensive marketing campaigns, and starred the biggest
names in all of porn.
Prisoner has been nominated for the Best release of the Year
award with the New Devil in Miss Jones, Pirates, Dark Side,
Catherine, Camp Cuddly Pines Power Tool Massacre, Squealer,
and Vault of Whores.
"It's an honor to see my movie alongside such extraordinary
productions," claims DCypher. "I wanted to experience
what it would be like to see a movie made the way I saw it
in my mind when I wrote it. Metro gave me that opportunity
and I am glad that I could repay them with this beautiful
movie," said DCypher.
To date DCypher has created seven titles for Cal Vista, all
glossy features, all shot in true high definition. Wonderland
is only the second in what promises to be an extraordinary
series of titles from the versatile visionary.
"The next four titles I am working on in my contract
are much more controversial," shares DCypher. "This
industry has no idea what's coming. It's going to be awesome
to watch them unfold, one after the next. I can barely wait
to see how people react to these pictures."
